Cook. Serve. Store. All in one Cuitisan container.
Ingredients:
- 1 pound chicken breast cut into 1-inch cubes
- 1 tablespoon low-sodium tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 3 tablespoons plain gluten-free breadcrumbs
Sauce:
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 teaspoons fresh grated ginger or 1/2 teaspoon dried
- 1 tablespoon oil
- 1 cup orange juice
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- ¼ cup honey see notes
- ¼ cup low-sodium tamari or soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2-3 teaspoons sriracha or to taste
- 1 tablespoon cornflour
- 2 tablespoons water
Instructions:
Add your cubed chicken breast to a bowl and toss with the tamari. Set aside to marinate for about 15 minutes.
Preheat your air fryer to 190°C (380°F).
Toss the chicken with the cornflour and breadcrumbs. The breadcrumbs will stick more easily if you add them at the same time as the cornflour.
Place the chicken in a Cuitisan stainless steel container in a single layer, then place the container directly into the air fryer. Cook for 10–14 minutes, tossing halfway through. Cooking time will depend on the size of the chicken pieces. The chicken is cooked when the internal temperature reaches 74°C (165°F).
Tip: The Cuitisan container will become hot during cooking, so always use oven mitts or a tea towel when handling it.While the chicken is cooking, add the minced garlic and oil to a saucepan. Sauté until lightly golden.
Add all remaining sauce ingredients, except the water and cornflour, and bring to a gentle simmer.
Whisk together the cornflour and water, then add to the sauce. Continue whisking and simmer until thickened. Remove from the heat and allow to cool slightly—the sauce will thicken further as it cools.
Once the chicken is cooked, carefully remove the Cuitisan container from the air fryer. Cut into the largest piece to make sure the chicken is cooked through, then let it cool for a couple of minutes.
Pour about half to two-thirds of the orange sauce directly over the chicken in the Cuitisan container and toss to coat. Reserve the remaining sauce for serving.
Serve immediately with steamed broccoli and rice, or enjoy as is!
Recipe notes:
- If you’re using full-strength soy sauce, cut it back to about 2-3 tablespoons so it isn’t too strong.
- You can sub the honey with any sweetener you like. This recipe isn’t as sweet as traditional restaurant orange chicken, so feel free to add more sweetener to taste.
